PROGRAMME & PERFORMERS

Van Maldere "Dublin" Sinfonia in C

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Horn Concerto No. 3 K447

W.A. Mozart Symphony No. 40 K550

Join the Irish Baroque Orchestra and Peter Whelan for the second

instalment of Classical Masterworks, where works by Van Maldere and

Mozart receive a colourful rendering on period instruments. Van

Maldere's "Dublin" set of six symphonies mark possibly the earliest known

symphonies to be written and performed in Ireland. Fizzing with energy,

the listener has the sense of a composer revelling in all the tools at his

disposal in this new and exciting form. From this we journey to Mozart's

Horn Concerto K447, with IBO Principal Horn Anneke Scott as soloist.

Finally, one of the best known gems in the symphonic repertoire, Mozart's

dark and brooding Symphony No. 40.

“I shall never forget the astonishing playing on natural horn by Anneke Scott

in Haydn’s Concerto in D. She seemed to defy the laws of physics." (Martin

Adams, The Irish Times).
