PROGRAMME & PERFORMERS
Winter’s House
Ireland’s national chamber choir brings a concert of warming winter song
to Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny. The centrepiece of the concert, Joanna
Marsh’s Winter’s Garland, captures the icy wonder of a child’s winter
dream, the welcoming glow of lamplit halls at twilight, and the buzz of a
midwinter feast. This triptych of seasonal songs is nestled amongst a
selection of medieval Irish and Nordic carols, ancient Estonian runic
songs, and an Appalachian folk carol. Get into the festive spirit and
celebrate all that the season brings with an evening of radiant choral
music.
Chamber Choir Ireland is the country’s premier professional choral
ensemble, bringing the joy of world-class choral music to over a million
listeners each year through broadcasts, streaming, and live performances.
Their programming spans from rarely heard treasures of early music to
choral masterworks, and champions leading Irish and international
composers through exciting new commissions and premieres.
Gabriel Crouch is Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of Chamber
Choir Ireland. Crouch is Director of Choral Activities and Professor of the
Practice in Music at Princeton University. He is a baritone, choral
conductor, Grammy-nominated record producer, and former member of
the acclaimed a cappella group, the King’s Singers.
